Aluminium and stainless

There are a lot of kitchenware material available these days. Each type has its own pros and cons. The way we choose depends on the need of the users.

  • Aluminum
Pros are Light weight, Good heat conductor and cheap. Normally for same size of kitchenware, aluminum got the price cheaper about 4 -5 times than those from stainless, i.e. 22cm aluminum pot unit price is about 100 baht, while it is 500 baht for SUS 304 stainless one(the best one).

However, there are points to keep in mind about aluminum. It is easy for aluminum to have dent, twisted if more force is applied to the kitchenware, especially on a small kitchenware like 16cm or 18cm pot. Big one would be more diffucult to be twisted as thickness of alumimum plate is more.

  • Stainless steel
Stainless steel is normally stainprove. Stainless material is widely used in household today. Pros are very durable, shiny and easy for a cleaning.

Anyway stainless steel is not a good heat conductor, so it takes some time to heat up food on stainless steel kitchenware and the heat does not circulate that fast, compared to those on aluminum. Basically, stainless steel weight 2 times compared to aluminum, i.e. 22cm aluminum pot wights about 0.6 kg, while it is 1.4 kgs for SUS 304 stainless one
